1.MECHANISM OF ACTION

GHRP-2 exerts its primary effects by binding to and activating the Growth Hormone Secretagogue Receptor 1a (GHSR-1a), also known as the ghrelin receptor, on pituitary somatotrophs and hypothalamic neurons. This is a Gq/11-protein coupled receptor. Activation leads to phospholipase C (PLC) stimulation, inositol trisphosphate (IP₃) and diacylglycerol (DAG) generation, intracellular calcium mobilization, and protein kinase C (PKC) activation.
