Neuromedin B-30 exerts its effects by selectively binding to and activating the G protein-coupled neuromedin B receptor (NMBR or BB1). This binding triggers the receptor to primarily couple with the Gq protein, leading to the activation of phospholipase C (PLC). PLC activation results in the hydrolysis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) into inositol trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG).
