1.MECHANISM OF ACTION
Secretin exerts its effects by binding to G-protein coupled secretin receptors located on the basolateral membrane of target cells. This binding stimulates the secretion of bicarbonate and enzymes from the pancreas, inhibits gastric acid secretion, and modulates the release of other hormones such as adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).
