Upon binding to BB₂R, it activates Gq/11-dependent intracellular signaling pathways, triggering hydrolysis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) to generate inositol trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG).
